About the setting of Hellish Quart, i.e. Sources, Movies, Books, etc.
Jacek Komuda is a script writer. He is the Polish author of historical novels and Wild Fields tabletop RPG (RolePlaying Game). Sadly, Komuda’s books and tabletop game aren’t translated to English but I’ve heard there are plans to do so — both officially and there was a person who wanted to do it unofficially. The official setting of the game is Wild Fields tabletop game.
Besides Komuda, Henryk Sienkiewicz wrote novels set in this period and which serve as inspiration. There are also movies based on his stories and they are under the same title. Those are, in chronological order, With Fire and Sword, The Deluge, Fire in the Steppe — the last one is set in 19th century though.

TV series “Diabeł Łańcucki” was in the works. It was based on Komuda’s novel of the same title. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6P67dJ33No . Pilot episode has been released but it seems to only be available in Polish.
Literally around the day the founding campaign of the serialization for foreigners started, the war in Ukraine also begun and production has stopped as it was filmed near Przemyśl, near Ukrainian border — around 10km away from the Ukrainian border and around 90km from Lviv. The rockets that fell on Poland in Przewodów fell around 8km from the border and around 70km from Lviv as reference.
I don’t know whether they plan to keep shooting it or not. The war doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon and actors aren’t getting younger. But I’ll keep you updated on the progress. Trailer is available here — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtAcj6YzNVM . I think it’s only in Polish though.

I had intended to spread his work and accessible through Google SEO so I copypasta his article into medium under his generous permission. Thank you for good writing, Ilxuss!
